What is Final Close?

A final close is the point at which a fund stops accepting new commitments. The total capital raised at final close becomes the fund’s final size.

The final close ends a fund’s fundraising period; after it, no new LPs can join and the committed total is fixed as the fund size. Funds typically have a window (often 12–18 months) between first and final close.

Reaching or exceeding the target at final close is a key signal of fundraising success.
