Fundraising

What is Fund Size?

A fund’s size is the total capital committed to it by all investors (including the GP). It is set at final close and determines how much the fund can deploy.

Fund size equals the sum of all LP commitments plus the GP commit, fixed at final close. It dictates strategy: check sizes, number of portfolio companies, and the level of management fees the fund generates.

Funds usually set a target size and a hard cap — the maximum they will accept — when they launch fundraising.
