What is GP Commit?

The GP commit is the capital a fund’s managers invest into their own fund, aligning their interests with LPs. It is commonly around 1–5% of total fund size.

The GP commit is the general partner’s own money put into the fund — "skin in the game" that reassures LPs the managers share their downside. A typical GP commit is 1–3% of fund size, though LPs increasingly push for more.

A meaningful GP commit is one of the first things diligent LPs check when evaluating a manager.
