Wallenberg Investments AB, a wholly owned company, was founded to manage and develop the assets of the Wallenberg Foundations: the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation, and the Marcus and Amalia Wallenberg Foundation. The Wallenberg Foundations is the collective name for the non-profit foundations established and funded with donations that individual members of the Wallenberg family have either given or raised in honor or memory of family members. The Foundations focus mainly on basic research in medicine, technology, and the natural sciences, but they also support research related to the social sciences and the humanities. The Foundations grant funding to researchers and research projects of excellence that are beneficial to the country of Sweden. The Wallenberg Foundations' largest assets are the public investment company Investor AB and the private holding company FAM AB under the Wallenberg Investments AB umbrella including FAM AB, Navigator, SAS, Saab, and EQT. FAM AB (Foundation Asset Management) focuses its ownership on a number of strategic holdings and a selection of alternative investments with a long-term ownership horizon. Growth in the value of holdings and dividends from FAM contribute to the Foundations' value growth and their ability to give grants for research and education. Foundation Asset Management AB (FAM AB) is a Swedish foundation and privately-owned holding company that manages our assets as an active owner with a long-term ownership horizon. Founded by the three largest Wallenberg foundations in order to manage the assets of the foundations, by means of direct ownership as well as through management and consultancy agreements. FAM is owned by the three largest Wallenberg foundations: the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation, and the Marcus and Amalia Wallenberg Foundation. FAM focuses its ownership on a number of strategic holdings and a selection of alternative investments. By actively contributing to the long-term development and growth of holdings, their dividend capacity and value can increase over time. Growth in the value of holdings and dividends from FAM contribute to the Foundations' value growth and their ability to give grants for research and education. FAM also controls Investor AB, a Swedish investment and de facto conglomerate holding company, founded in 1916. The company owns a controlling stake in several large Swedish companies with smaller positions in a number of other firms.
