About The Moore Charitable Foundation

Founded in 1992 by lifelong conservationist Louis Bacon, The Moore Charitable Foundation is a private family foundation that works to protect natural resources and inspire future environmental stewards. Moore Charitable and its affiliates partner with nonprofit organizations that preserve open land and healthy forests; ensure clean and abundant water; advance marine and marine species protections; and foster conservation and community stewardship, including environmental, educational and other local programs in our priority conservation and geographic areas and beyond. The Moore Charitable Foundation supports the permanent protection of scenic, historic, and natural landscapes for public recreation, species survival, and for the livelihoods of surrounding communities. We advocate for forest health practices that champion biodiversity, build resilience from fire and floods, and ensure the integrity of water resources. We collaborate with water guardians and coastal restoration & ocean partners to stop pollution, drive sustainable fisheries and economies, and safeguard marine species and protected areas. Finally, we partner with local organizations that provide critical community services and that foster our future generation conservation and community stewards. The Foundation places significant emphasis on the following geographic areas: Long Island, North Carolina, Colorado, New Mexico, Bahamas, Panama.
