The Petre Foundation was established in 2001 by Daniel and Carolyn Petre. The scholarship was established to foster the advanced education of students who aspire to contribute to the betterment of mankind without particular regard for their own personal or commercial gain. The scholarship will be awarded to a UNSW University Medalist who demonstrates aspirations to give back to society surrounding but no limited to, such as areas as poverty and hunger, youth at risk, child welfare, a sustainable environment, issues in developing countries, public health.
