Makena Capital Management, LLC was formed in 2005 by senior executives from the Stanford Management Company and leading practitioners from elite North American endowments and foundations. We provide investment expertise, scale, and premier investment access to our client base of multigenerational pools of capital, including endowments, foundations, family offices, pensions, and sovereign wealth funds. Alternative and private asset investing lies at the core of our investment process; we believe alternative and private assets play a key role in preserving and growing capital over a long time horizon by diversifying risk and return streams. We offer access to these selective investment opportunities through our discretionary, commingled vehicles: a multi-asset class, endowment portfolio, and single-asset class portfolios providing targeted exposure designed to complement a broad portfolio. Based in the heart of Silicon Valley in Menlo Park, California, our nearly 75-person team is solely focused on providing superior risk-adjusted returns and world class service to our clients. Makena Capital Management's investment portfolio is valued at $23.37 billion as of March 28, 2024, with investments in private equity, real estate, hedge funds, real assets, natural resources, fixed-income securities, and other alternative asset classes. As of March 28, 2024, the private equity portfolio was valued at $3.78 billion, representing 16.2% of the total portfolio. This is a decrease compared to June 13, 2023, when the private equity portfolio was valued at $5.76 billion. Investments in private equity include buyouts and venture capital strategies. The firm is open to any first-time fund investments.
